Where service is more than just a clichéd promise
At Law Printing we believe that there is a certain way of doing things - that's the right way. So, although our services and technology are at the cutting edge of print, we have a traditional approach to relationships with our clients. We believe that your success is our success, and that every client has the right to see his or her expectations exceeded.
Our clients benefit from Law's dedicated account management process that begins on day-one of a contract, and ends only when delivery is complete.
At Law you always have access to a dedicated Account Manager who will advise you on how to fulfil your ongoing printing needs, and also keep a watchful eye on the production process on a day-to-day basis. You'll always have the same point of contact, to ensure your print jobs are handled smoothly and delivered on time.
We base our service and quality on:
In short, we believe that delivering "perfection in print" is based on procedures that enable us to be reliable, flexible, honest, approachable and creative, so we can produce suitable print at the right price, at the right time.
- discussing your requirements, needs and matching these to our ability to meet your specifications;
- preventing errors, when taking a brief, by identifying where mistakes could occur, and advising you on how to avoid and eliminate them;
- getting it right first time;
- dealing with issues that may arise quickly and openly.
A hands-on approach to empowerment
Based in Midrand with easy highway access to Johannesburg and Pretoria, Law Printing is an empowered company that was established in 1990. It is headed by Managing Director, Cliff Makura, a printer by profession, who owns 30 percent of the equity and is supported by fellow directors Pinky Lukhele (30 percent shareholder) and Kevin Watson (40 percent shareholder).
The employee base reflects the empowerment status of executive management. Forty-four percent of employees are female and, on the shop floor, 34 percent of workers are black men. Eighty-percent of total staff employed are categorised as previously disadvantaged individuals.
We take pride in the fact that all directors are involved with the daily operations of the company, each bringing particular skills to bear in various fields. Director Kevin Watson, who has worked his way through the print industry from machine-minder to his present position, is permanently based in the machine shop where he is responsible for ensuring that the quality of outputs is maintained.

Support from A-to-Z of the printing process
We offer "computer to printing plate" technology which does away with the need to print positives before a job can be checked. Computer plots are quicker and easier to produce, saving you time and money. We also take the pain from the process by taking material supplied on disk and hard copy, formatting, paginating and stepping up the job using our dedicated in-house facilities who also supply a full-colour set of plotter proofs, or a made-up dummy for easy checking. You get an accurate representation of your job so pictures, print fonts, logo's and copy can be checked before plates are made.
Our desk-top publishing operators are always available to assist you with typesetting, required changes and layout advice. They also have ready access to a definitive electronic library of all jobs we have undertaken, so they can quickly access reference material or layouts required for reorders.
A choice of printing options
At Law Printing we are geared to cope with all your requirements, whether it is for a long run of high-quality annual reports, or an equally important run of just 20 copies of up-market restaurant menus. To meet these demands we offer a choice of Litho or digital printing capabilities. We recommend our Lithographic print facilities for major print runs requiring ultimate reproduction quality (your corporate brochures or annual reports for example).
Our digital print facilities are ideal for short runs and rapid turnaround for multi-page brochures or documents printed on both sides and collated fast to meet pressing deadlines. With very little set up required and no drying time, prints can be handled, finished and bound almost immediately. Our Indigo's 5000 is the most sophisticated digital print solution to meet these needs.
The machines behind the delivery
Ensuring that print muscle matches expectations, we have invested in state-of-the-art Heidelberg machines that are renowned in the printing industry for their reliability, speed and output quality.
The print room is structured to ensure that there is a machine suitable for every job. Machines range from single-colour to four and five-colour presses. On-site die-making, saddle stitching, folding of all print sizes, perfect binding and thread sewing capabilities complete the picture of services provided under one roof.
Our newly acquired Zund offers the ability to make samples which is laser cut on actual stock, thereby reducing any guess work in folder, box or any intricate die cutting.
As printers who are regularly involved in printing urgent documents for major companies, we understand the embarrassment and frustrations that can result from unscheduled power cuts. To make sure that we are able to work 24-hours a day without interruption, we have installed our own generators which enable critical functions on our site - and this includes our machine shop - to continue operating for as long as required. To you, this means an absolute guarantee that your print job will not be interrupted by power failures, which are currently a fact of everyday life.
